Fallout 76 download cap6/12/2023 ![]() ![]() You can unlock certain building parts by paying real money because that is the feature we all have been waiting for. The real reason for the building however is of course to sell you microtransaction. If I can take my house with me like a snail why can I not just pocket-craft everything. I fail to see the player purpose of the camp mechanic in F76 however. The settlements served both a narrative and gameplay purpose. You could also build bases that specialiced in the production of certain things, even link them together with traderoutes. Building the settlements had this nice feel of bringing live to the wasteland. Some games like F4 solve this by letting you build multiple settlements in predetermined locations and in general this seemed way better done there. Basebuilding in games where you constantly move around is always a bit problematic. This raises the question why we even need that mechanic. I didn't play long enough for this to come into play but I image you can just put your base in your pocket. The building mechanic is likewise tedious and stupid. Its selling you "time savers" for real live money in the game you already bought. It was tedious in F4 and is even worse here since grind is a core part of the DNA of modern mmorpgs. Every item has some benefit in crafting so better gobble up everything like a loot goblin. They also expanded on the F4 loot marathon menthality. Like they are GTA questgivers but without the cutscenes to go along. Here is the npcs that starts this mission and over there the one that starts the other mission. The world no longer feels organic and lived in to me. The interactions with npcs take place in "pocket dimensions" that spawn for you exclusively and every decision you make is only reflected inside these pocket dimensions that you are never going to visit again anyway.įrom what I have seen the writing for the NPCs is even below F4 standard which was already a step down from previous entries. You are just some guy that payed money for a crappy game. You are not the choosen one, lone wanderer or currier. Since this is a mmorpg now your decisions change nothing. While there always has been more than enough technical issues in the modern fallout games they made up for it with a unique athmosphere and charme rarely matched in other games.Īll this is pretty much gone in F76. In fallout games you explore a detailed world that feels lived in, you meet memorable npcs, go on fun adventures and ulimately make moral choices that have a noticable impact on the game world around you. Unlike other such games it does not even have a compentent core mechanic however so why bother?įirst of, as I said, this is not a fallout game. If you are looking for a vaguely fallout themed mmorpg, live-service, riddled with microtransactions hamster wheel than yes. If you are looking for a fallout game, this isn't one. Well, I fell for it and guess what? It still sucks in 2023. Mostly positive reviews on steam they said. ![]()
